Service Operations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Provide support across various facilities and/or clients within a strategic geographic region.

• Fulfill the responsibilities of Coordinators, Technicians, Material Handlers, and Glass Washers during times of vacation, leave, or emergencies.

• Serve as a backup for other territories and be willing to travel outside the assigned area as necessary.

• Coordinate and lead team initiatives while addressing customer requirements.

• Collaborate with management on Standard Operating Procedures, Scopes of Work, Standard Work, On-the-Job Training, and additional tasks.

• Engage directly with customer contacts, including purchasing directors, facility directors, and plant managers.

• Acquire laboratory supplies and materials.

• Utilize Avantor and customer systems such as SAP, Inventory Manager, Chemical Manager, and specific customer applications.

• Train Avantor Lab and Production Services staff on service offerings.

• Provide SAP support, including customer service, credit rebills, and invoice review.

• Adjust and maintain quality metrics and key performance indicators.

• Oversee a budget related to expense reports.

• Achieve revenue, TOE, safety, performance, and quality targets and objectives.

• Develop programs aimed at improving service efficiencies.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory control, procurement, shipping and receiving, or inside sales is advantageous.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required.

• Overnight travel is necessary.

• Must be able to use a personal vehicle and fly for longer travels.

• Full vaccination and booster against COVID-19 are required for sites where coverage is available.

• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Previous experience in a GMP facility is highly preferred.

• Excellent communication skills are essential.

• Familiarity with Information Access and System ESS is beneficial.

• A valid driver's license is necessary.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines is crucial.

• Willingness to travel among multiple locations in the San Francisco area is expected.

• Experience in cross-referencing and inside sales is a plus.

• Forklift Certification is an advantage.

• Prior experience with VWR/Avantor products and services is beneficial.

• Knowledge of IATA, DOT, OSHA Right to Know, and IMDG regulations is a plus.

• An associate or undergraduate degree in a business or science-related field is preferred.

• A CDL is advantageous but not required.
