Service Delivery Lead – Project Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Serve as the main senior contact for executive stakeholders, including regional Finance Leads, Project Directors, Business Line Leaders, and Global Service Delivery leadership.

• Develop and sustain trusted, influential relationships with senior stakeholders through proactive engagement, clear communication, and reliable delivery on commitments.

• Facilitate stakeholder governance forums, performance reviews, and escalation discussions, ensuring alignment on priorities, risks, and outcomes.

• Convert complex financial and operational data into clear insights and recommendations for executives that aid in strategic decision-making.

• Govern the complete range of financial, operational, and service delivery KPIs, ensuring they align with global standards, SLAs, and business expectations.

• Set performance targets, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to monitor productivity, quality, timeliness, financial accuracy, cash flow, and margin performance.

• Foster a performance-driven culture, holding leaders and teams accountable for results and necessary corrective actions.

• Conduct root-cause analysis for KPI variances and ensure prompt execution of remediation and continuous improvement plans.

• Report performance results, trends, and risks to senior leadership, including suggestions for strategic or operational interventions.

• Provide senior oversight on project financial execution, including revenue recognition, cost control, reserves, and contingencies.

• Review and interpret complex commercial and contractual arrangements to ensure suitable financial treatment and risk mitigation.

• Supervise the analysis of WIP, unbilled costs, billings in excess of earnings, and receivables to enhance cash flow, margin, and financial predictability.

• Act as a senior escalation authority for complex accounting judgments, ensuring compliance with IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and internal control requirements.

• Ensure uniform execution of global processes, standards, and controls across regions and end markets.

• Collaborate with GPOs, Global Service Delivery Leads, and functional leaders to drive operational stability, maturity, and standardization.

• Oversee capacity planning, workforce optimization, utilization, and skill mix to support business growth and evolving demands.

• Lead finance transformation initiatives aligned with global strategy, encompassing process standardization, automation, and digital enablement.

• Identify opportunities to enhance value-added services, transitioning the function from transactional execution to strategic financial partnership.

• Promote a continuous improvement mindset supported by data, benchmarks, and best-in-class practices.

• Lead the preparation and support for internal and external audits, business risk reviews, and project health assessments.

• Establish clear leadership expectations and cultivate a robust management layer capable of sustaining performance at scale.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.

• Professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent) is highly preferred.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in multinational, complex organizations, with significant senior leadership responsibilities.

• Proven experience in the Engineering, Design, and Construction or project-based services industry.

• Demonstrated success in leading large teams within shared services or global delivery frameworks.

• Strong background in collaborating with senior stakeholders and influencing at the executive level.

• In-depth expertise in Project Accounting and financial performance management.

• Advanced understanding of revenue recognition (IFRS 15 / IAS 11 / ASC 606), U.S. GAAP, and SOX controls.

• Solid grasp of project lifecycles, contract types, and commercial risk management.

• Experience with large ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Blackline, or similar).

• Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in executive-level reporting.

• Willingness to work a late shift (3 PM - 11 PM).
