Server Engineering Manager, Member Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the Member Experience server team, overseeing the entire member lifecycle from application to onboarding, payments, and renewals.

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of server engineers, including responsibilities for hiring, onboarding, and career progression.

• Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative culture within the team.

• Contribute to the codebase while providing technical leadership in areas such as architecture, system design, and significant engineering decisions.

• Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to define, scope, and deliver impactful features from conception to launch.

• Supervise the development and ongoing enhancement of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud services.

• Maintain engineering quality through adherence to code standards, testing protocols, operational readiness, and long-term sustainability.

• Function as a player/coach, dedicating approximately 50% of time to hands-on engineering tasks.

• Collaborate closely with leadership, product managers, designers, and data team stakeholders to create significant business impact.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 2 years of experience in managing high-performing engineering teams.

• Extensive knowledge of Node.js and TypeScript.

• Familiarity with cloud architecture, services, deployment models, and distributed systems.

• Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

• Proven production experience with Apple StoreKit for payments and subscriptions.

• Proven production experience with Stripe for payments and subscriptions in a B2C context.

• Experience in managing and administering an operational excellence program, including production readiness, observability, and on-call responsibilities.

• Demonstrated ability to lead projects from inception to launch, effectively balancing speed and quality.

• Capability to collaborate efficiently with cross-functional partners to achieve business objectives.

• Experience in sourcing, screening, hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.

• Strong communication and leadership capabilities.

• An AI-forward perspective, demonstrating curiosity about leveraging emerging technologies to enhance developer and product experiences.
