This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Construct, patch, and test userspace packages within the Rocky Linux from CIQ operating system.
• Enhance tools and automation for the package-building workflow.
• Comprehend and address CVEs in RPM packages delivered to clients.
• Tailor, optimize, and develop packages to elevate the customer experience.
• Establish testing protocols for specific software and the overall system.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, open-source community, and sales teams to create relevant solutions.
• Engage in architecture-level discussions, planning, and execution.
• Document projects to share insights and ease user integration.
• Lead proofs of concept and minimum viable products for demonstration purposes.
• Create automated tests and utilize source control platforms such as GitHub/GitLab.
• Provide support services prior to launch through system design consulting, platform and framework development, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
• Deploy across standard server architectures, virtual machines, and cloud infrastructures.
• A solid understanding of Linux OS packaging, such as RPM or DEB.
• Experience with CVEs and their remediation for legacy code versions.
• Profound knowledge of Linux Operating System functionality, including interactions among various packages.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a remote team setting.
• Documented experience with Linux administration, Linux internals, Docker, Kubernetes, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools and processes.
• Familiarity with Ansible playbooks and/or DoD STIG/SCAP/RADIX processes.
• Proficient in: Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, REST APIs / OpenAPI, HTTP Get / Post.
• Acquainted with Python, GoLang, Kubernetes, and other engineering tools/technologies.
• Exhibit problem-solving, debugging, and effective communication skills.
• Adaptable to new challenges in a fast-paced startup environment utilizing agile methodologies.
• Possess a friendly, collaborative, humble, and honest demeanor, always aiming for improvement.
• Demonstrated work experience as a Linux Engineer, Linux Development Engineer, or Software Developer with a focus on the Linux OS.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting Linux and at least 2 years in building Linux Packages.
