Senior WordPress Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks for high-traffic, multilingual WordPress websites.

• Create and manage libraries, block collections, Composer packages, and tools that enhance delivery efficiency across teams.

• Refactor outdated code, optimize database queries and caching, and enhance Core Web Vitals metrics.

• Construct and utilize REST APIs and integrations with both internal and external systems.

• Engage in code reviews, improve CI/CD processes, and contribute to engineering standards initiatives.

• Collaborate with product, marketing, SEO, content, and QA teams to enhance features and site performance.

• Document technical decisions and participate in establishing engineering best practices.

• Ensure adherence to software development best practices and timely delivery of products.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in WordPress development.

• Proficient in Object-Oriented PHP (8.x).

• Familiarity with namespaces, PSR standards, and Composer.

• Extensive understanding of WordPress Core APIs.

• Strong grasp of hooks, custom post types, taxonomies, WP_Query, and metadata APIs.

• Experience with ACF Pro and native custom fields.

• Solid experience in building Gutenberg blocks for production.

• Proficient in React and JSX development.

• Familiarity with block.json and @wordpress/scripts.

• Strong skills in modern JavaScript (ES6+).

• Experience with Webpack or Vite.

• Proficient in modern CSS development (Sass, PostCSS).

• Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs.

• Experience creating custom WordPress REST endpoints.

• Strong understanding of WordPress security best practices.

• Familiarity with sanitization, escaping, nonces, and user capabilities.

• Expertise in WordPress performance optimization.

• Experience with object caching and query optimization.

• Comfortable with Git-based workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience working in AI-assisted development environments (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.).

• Proficient in written and spoken English.
