Senior Wind Hub Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Fulfill contractual obligations in accordance with customer specifications and daily site/hub operations.

• Manage and maintain the electrical and mechanical systems utilized in GE wind turbine generators.

• Utilize expertise in variable pitch and variable speed turbines, along with converter components.

• Interpret and clarify schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and compliance regulations.

• Comply with Environmental Health and Safety protocols, regulations, and compliance requirements.

• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.

• Assist in all facets of site operations as directed by management with minimal oversight.

• Conduct diagnostic evaluations and develop strategies for prompt issue resolution.

• Record work activities utilizing computer-based service reporting systems.

• Collaborate with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when required.

• Provide mentorship to coworkers.

• Engage and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to fulfill contract obligations and deadlines.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.

• A minimum of 4 years of wind troubleshooting experience, including at least 1 year in EHS, SQC, or a Lead role; OR at least 6 years of wind troubleshooting experience; OR a combination of 3 years of wind troubleshooting experience and a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

• Successful completion of a Technical Knowledge Assessment.

• Basic computer proficiency.

• Must possess and retain a valid driver’s license.

• Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.

• Capability to handle repetitive weights of 50 lbs. and to climb towers up to 300 feet daily.

• Must comply with specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs., including necessary gear.

• Ability and readiness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry environments.

• Skill to prioritize tasks according to contractual obligations.

• Initiative to work independently without direct supervision.

• Flexibility to work rotating shifts and be on-call as required by site needs.

• Occasional overnight stays may be necessary based on hub requirements.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics discipline from an accredited institution (preferred).

• Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic fields (preferred).

• Experience with wind turbines.

• Background in electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic systems.

• Proficiency with hydraulic power tools.

• Familiarity with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and knowledge of crane and rigging standards.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening, if applicable.
