Senior Wind Hub Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Ensure optimal functionality and output at the wind site.

• Engage daily in turbine operations, safety protocols, quality control, and warranty repairs.

• Fulfill contractual obligations and customer specifications related to electrical and mechanical equipment utilized in GE wind turbine generators.

• Leverage knowledge of variable pitch and speed turbines along with converter components.

• Interpret and clarify schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Comply with Environmental Health and Safety protocols, regulations, and compliance mandates.

• Diagnose intricate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.

• Assist all operational areas of the site as directed by management with minimal supervision.

• Conduct diagnostic analyses and devise plans for prompt issue resolution.

• Record work activities using computer-based service reporting systems.

• Collaborate with GE’s remote operations center when required.

• Provide mentorship to colleagues.

• Collaborate and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to fulfill contract obligations and timelines.

• Travel locally within the Lazbuddie, Easter, and Bethel hub.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED.

• A minimum of 4 years of wind troubleshooting experience, including at least 1 year in EHS, SQC, or a Lead role; OR at least 6 years of wind troubleshooting experience; OR at least 3 years of wind troubleshooting experience along with a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

• Successful completion of a Technical Knowledge Assessment.

• Basic proficiency in computer skills.

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

• Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.

• Capability to handle repetitive weights of 50 lbs. and ascend towers up to 300 feet daily.

• Meet and uphold specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs., including necessary gear.

• Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry environments.

• Ability to prioritize tasks according to contract requirements.

• Initiative to work independently without direct supervision.

• Flexibility to work rotating shifts and be on-call as per site requirements.

• Occasional overnight stays may be necessary based on hub requirements.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• A High School Diploma / GED is the minimum credential; a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is an alternative with 3 years of experience.

• Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited institution.

• Preferred: Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic fields.

• Preferred: Experience with wind turbines.

• Preferred: Experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic systems.

• Preferred: Proficiency in using hydraulic power tools.

• Preferred: Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and familiarity with crane and rigging standards.
