This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop research strategies for intricate and ambiguous product and customer challenges.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to pinpoint learning requirements prior to committing to a project direction.
• Formulate research questions, hypotheses, participant profiles, methodologies, timelines, and decision criteria.
• Choose and integrate qualitative and quantitative techniques, such as interviews, contextual inquiries, workflow observations, ethnographic studies, concept evaluations, usability tests, surveys, product behavior analysis, and competitive studies.
• Recruit and involve a diverse range of participants, including customers, prospects, operators, engineers, managers, executives, account executives, and internal subject-matter specialists.
• Execute both remote and in-person research sessions with customers and users in industrial and technical settings.
• Analyze evidence to uncover patterns, unmet needs, root causes, opportunities, and trade-offs.
• Create research readouts that communicate findings, implications, and suggested decisions.
• Integrate research throughout the product discovery phase and the product development lifecycle.
• Shape product strategy, roadmaps, prioritization, terminology, information architecture, workflow design, and release readiness.
• Convert customer insights into problem statements, requirements, acceptance criteria, and testable hypotheses.
• Assess concepts, low-fidelity ideas, prototypes, and evolving product experiences.
• Continuously learn post-launch through usability feedback, customer discussions, product behavior, and other indicators.
• Balance user needs with business objectives, technical limitations, timelines, accessibility, security, permissions, and enterprise software realities.
• Cultivate an understanding of how users analyze data, monitor assets and processes, investigate issues, create and disseminate findings, and collaborate.
• Research workflows that encompass multiple personas, roles, systems, and levels of expertise.
• Utilize human-centered research for data-intensive, analytical, automation, and AI-driven experiences.
• Assess AI-driven experiences for trustworthiness, usefulness, explainability, controllability, and contextual relevance.
• Set standards for research planning, participant recruitment, moderation, synthesis, documentation, and communication.
• Maintain a well-organized repository of customer evidence to guide product decisions.
• Enhance research capacity prioritization across product areas and customer needs.
• Mentor fellow researchers and assist cross-functional teams in establishing effective research practices.
• Disseminate methods, findings, patterns, and customer insights to foster alignment and drive momentum.
• Identify appropriate opportunities for tools and automation while maintaining human judgment and research integrity.
• Contribute to a collaborative UX culture through critique, coaching, constructive disagreement, and ongoing improvement.
• At least six years of professional experience in UX research, user research, human factors, or a related field, or equivalent depth of experience.
• Proven experience leading research initiatives for complex products, workflows, or services with substantial ambiguity.
• Strong qualitative research capabilities, including interviewing, contextual inquiry, usability testing, concept evaluation, moderation, and synthesis.
• Proficiency in employing quantitative research, product behavior data, surveys, and analytics.
• Experience collaborating with Product, Design, and Engineering from discovery through delivery and ongoing post-launch learning.
• Experience shaping product strategy, roadmap decisions, or prioritization through research and customer insights.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex findings clearly, concisely, compellingly, and actionably.
• Sound judgment regarding research quality, participant ethics, confidentiality, accessibility, and appropriate usage of customer information.
• Experience mentoring others, enhancing team practices, or creating leverage beyond individual studies.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and establish structure in uncertain scenarios.
• Beneficial experience in B2B, SaaS, enterprise software, industrial technology, manufacturing, energy, chemicals, life sciences, or technically complex sectors.
• Beneficial experience in data analytics, process analytics, dashboards, visualization, monitoring, or data-intensive products.
• Beneficial experience in researching multi-user workflows, role-based experiences, permissions, governance, or cross-team collaboration.
• Beneficial experience in researching AI or machine learning-enabled products.
• Beneficial experience with mixed methods, experimentation, longitudinal research, or product analytics.
• Beneficial experience establishing research repositories, participant programs, or customer advisory practices.
• Formal education in psychology, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, human factors, sociology, anthropology, or a related field is advantageous; equivalent practical experience is also accepted.
• Must be authorized to work in the country in which you reside.
