This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct business transactions with designated wholesale trading partners.
• Discover, solicit, underwrite, and sell new and renewal Specialty accounts.
• Propel profitable growth in line with industry segments, appetite, and line-of-business mix objectives.
• Utilize technical, sales, and analytical skills to deliver insurance solutions that assist customers in managing risk.
• Leverage internal and external data to make informed individual and portfolio risk decisions.
• Operate within a defined authority while managing a moderately to highly complex portfolio of business.
• Implement risk selection, exposure and hazard identification and control, coverage analysis, and loss analysis.
• Employ underwriting tools, disciplines, strategies, guidelines, pricing components, and rating methodologies.
• Complete documentation for files and clarify account decisions.
• Prepare rating instructions and proposals for agents.
• Oversee portfolio objectives including premium, profitability, rate, retention, product mix, new business, and overall portfolio management.
• Analyze financial reporting data and insurance performance metrics.
• Prepare or assess underwriting decisions, rates, requirements, appetite, status, and declination information.
• Identify, pipeline, negotiate, and finalize accounts in accordance with business strategy.
• Assess assigned agencies and strategically promote company capabilities to agents.
• Track state and territory issues, regulations, trends, market data, and competitor insights.
• Foster producer relationships and activities to enhance yield and retention.
• Recognize cross-line-of-business and customer-segment sales opportunities.
• Collaborate with business units to provide comprehensive insurance solutions.
• Present to agents and customers.
• Utilize Claims and Loss Control partners to showcase service and technical expertise.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Typically, 3–7+ years of experience in Specialty or standard commercial lines.
• 3–4+ years of experience in fostering agency relationships that yield profitable new and renewal business and managing complex accounts.
• Capability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues while adapting quickly to changes.
• Proficiency in effective communication and consultation with internal and external business partners regarding underwriting matters.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, negotiate, and make informed business decisions within the scope of authority.
• Competence in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems, learning swiftly, adapting to changes, influencing others, and managing multiple concurrent projects.
• Skill in collaborating with team members while respecting diverse ideas and perspectives.
• Capacity to prioritize tasks, monitor progress against timelines and deliverables, and mitigate risks to commitments.
• Knowledge of risk selection, exposure and hazard identification and control, coverage implications, and loss analysis.
• Familiarity with underwriting tools, guidelines, pricing components, rating methodologies, and insurance performance metrics.
• Understanding of Hanover products, appetite, as well as state and territory issues, regulations, and trends.
• Flexible work arrangements.
