Senior Underwriting Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Offer underwriting assistance, advice, and authorization to company staff, agents, and clients regarding real estate title insurance commitments and policies.

• Underwrite the issuance of title insurance in accordance with underwriting standards and guidelines within the limits of delegated authority.

• Provide support to company personnel in executing real estate settlement services.

• Establish underwriting standards and guidelines as per company procedures.

• Relay information related to underwriting and real estate settlement services to the team.

• Participate in occasional local business meetings and events.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree is mandatory.

• Must be admitted to practice law in the state of employment.

• Licensed to practice law and must be in good standing.

• 8 to 10 years of experience in title underwriting is required.

• Knowledge of real estate law is essential.

• Strong comprehension of the basic concepts, practices, and procedures associated with real estate title and settlement processes.

• Awareness of federal and state regulations pertaining to real estate title insurance and settlement services.

• Proficient in underwriting real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies.

• Capability to collaborate effectively and make decisive actions.

• Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy.

• Exceptional listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational abilities; adept at multitasking, prioritizing, and timely follow-up.

• Proficient negotiation skills.

• Ability to think abstractly and develop creative solutions.

• Competence in resolving complex issues with unique yet sound decisions.

• Ability to foster relationships and build rapport.
