Head of Legal Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and consistently enhance the technology ecosystem of the Legal department, which includes platforms for contract lifecycle management, matter management, legal intake, knowledge management, and workflow automation.

• Formulate and implement a scalable legal technology roadmap that merges AI, automation, and emerging technologies.

• Oversee technology assessments, system implementations, integrations, vendor selection, configuration, and continual optimization.

• Design, execute, and refine scalable legal workflows and processes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to create secure, effective, and scalable technological solutions.

• Assist Legal leadership with technology budgeting, strategic planning, and operational priorities.

• Propel continuous improvement, process automation, and the adoption of technology.

• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a team of legal operations professionals.

• Convert strategic priorities into project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

• Collaborate with Legal, Commercial, Finance, and other business stakeholders to advance initiatives.

• Manage competing priorities, dependencies, risks, and project obstacles.

• Establish project management frameworks, processes, and reporting mechanisms.

• Lead change management initiatives for new systems, processes, and projects.

• Provide updates to Legal leadership regarding project progress, challenges, and outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in legal operations, legal technology, strategic project management, or related disciplines.

• Proven experience in owning, implementing, and optimizing legal technology platforms, including CLM or similar enterprise systems.

• Background in designing scalable workflows, enhancing processes, and applying operational best practices.

• Experience in evaluating and deploying AI-enabled tools, automation solutions, or technology-driven process enhancements.

• Demonstrated capability to work independently, take initiative on projects, and achieve results with minimal supervision.

• Strong technical skills and experience in collaborating with IT, Engineering, and other technical teams.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, manage ambiguity, and balance strategic priorities with hands-on execution.

• Proficiency in AI at least at the Explorer (Level 1) stage, utilizing AI daily for enhanced personal productivity.

• Experience in rapidly evolving technology companies.

• Preferred: experience in healthcare technology, digital health, life sciences, or another highly regulated sector.

• Preferred: experience in building or scaling legal operations within a startup or high-growth company, including managing other legal operations team members.

• Preferred: familiarity with legal technology platforms such as Ironclad, SpotDraft, or similar solutions.
