This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Support the design and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing growth and profitability for the business line.
• Provide guidance to Senior Management and take on leadership or participation roles in various projects.
• Oversee the development, expansion, and profitability of the assigned portfolio and territory.
• Concentrate on acquiring new business, managing renewals, and handling large accounts.
• Underwrite and manage highly intricate accounts while operating within the highest underwriting authority levels.
• Mentor and coach new or junior team members, offering technical training as needed.
• Optimize profitable new business through relationship building, product expertise, and underwriting skills.
• Create and sustain an active list of target accounts.
• Oversee financial metrics such as loss ratios, premium strategies, retention rates, rate/exposure increases, and commission objectives.
• Ensure high standards in underwriting quality and book management.
• Implement underwriting strategies, manage portfolios, conduct self-audits, and maintain documented underwriting approvals.
• Guarantee adherence to standards and assigned underwriting authorities.
• Travel frequently to meet with key producers and accounts, ensuring visibility in the marketplace.
• Evaluate agency trends and apply proactive business strategies.
• Communicate underwriting appetite and generate qualified business opportunities.
• Track agency action plans and engage in agency planning and marketing meetings.
• Assist with underwriting audits as necessary.
• Address Field Underwriter inquiries with risk or program recommendations and approvals.
• Collaborate with other company divisions and Home Office staff, participating in task forces and committees.
• Develop and spearhead training initiatives.
• Align line-of-business priorities with company and business-unit strategies.
• Influence underwriting appetite, production, and pricing through strategic planning.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for product refinement and development.
• Assist with underwriting guidelines, product and system enhancements, and coverage forms.
• Lead or engage in operations, processing, and IT projects.
• Participate in industry events as a subject matter expert and company representative.
• Guide and mentor less experienced underwriters.
• Bachelor’s degree in Art History or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a Fine Art Insurance underwriting sales role or similar is required.
• Proven relationships within the Fine Art Insurance industry and beyond.
• Professional insurance designations such as AICPCU or RPLU are preferred.
• An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong emphasis on building and nurturing deep, long-lasting client relationships.
• Overnight travel is required.
