Senior Transmission Line Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver senior-level technical proficiency and oversee intricate transmission line design and analysis tasks.

• Execute transmission line designs from initial conceptual engineering to final design, encompassing EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop analysis.

• Conduct economic evaluations of conductors, perform lightning performance studies, grounding calculations, and determine electrical clearances in accordance with NESC and relevant standards.

• Analyze and apply NERC, FERC, and regional regulatory mandates, ensuring compliance with project deliverables.

• Prepare and assess specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, and purchase recommendations.

• Collaborate with project managers regarding scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, construction support, and management of change orders.

• Carry out and review QA/QC for engineering deliverables, production drawings, CAD outputs, and construction administration tasks.

• Address design-related issues encountered in the field.

• Lead field inspections, measurements, calculations, and installation reviews for both public and private clients.

• Develop and deliver technical reports.

• Assist in marketing and business development initiatives.

• Foster strong relationships with clients and contractors.

• Mentor junior engineers.

• Ensure the production of high-quality deliverables across transmission line engineering projects for utility clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or a related field).

• Over 5 years of experience in transmission line engineering (design, analysis, modeling, or similar roles).

• More than 5 years of experience working with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.

• At least 5 years of experience utilizing PLS-CADD.

• Familiarity with industry standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, FERC-881, and FAC-008 standards (preferred).

• Capability to plan and manage tasks effectively while communicating any obstacles that may affect budget or schedule completion (preferred).

• Motivation to engage in continuous learning to achieve expertise in the programs and services offered (preferred).

• Ability to work efficiently from a home office with minimal supervision.
