Part-time Associate Software Safety Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Engage with both internal and external clients and partners on topics related to system safety.

• Establish, execute, and validate System Safety requirements in collaboration with Software Safety and System Safety engineering teams.

• Grasp the complete mission scope, including launch vehicle, payload, ground support equipment, range infrastructure, and range safety interfaces.

• Utilize systems engineering methodologies to outline and verify requirements for launch vehicles and ground support equipment.

• Perform safety analyses to design and implement secure and resilient systems.

• Collaborate with customer safety and support working groups.

• Aid in the design and development of launch vehicles to ensure safety, mission success, and performance objectives.

• Assess Integration and Test processes to validate safety and mission success criteria.

• Execute system-level evaluations of next-generation mission concepts and designs.

• Clarify launch vehicle designs and software safety requirements to external stakeholders.

• Review software, functional specifications, operations, support equipment, and facilities.

• Set safety requirements and propose safety criteria to mitigate or eliminate hazards.

• Create safety documentation that aligns with customer and test/operational range needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing or have completed a degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution.

• Major or completed major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.

• Capability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Ability to secure Special Access Program approval within a reasonable timeframe, as determined by the company.

• Preferred overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher.

• Knowledge of launch vehicles, payloads, ground support equipment, range infrastructure, and range safety interfaces.

• Familiarity with component, subsystem, system, and integrated launch vehicle functions and interactions, particularly regarding Software System Safety.

• Proficient in applying systems engineering processes and conducting safety analyses.

• Capable of analyzing Integration and Test processes.

• Able to describe, analyze, and articulate launch vehicle designs and relevant software safety requirements.
