Senior Transmission Line Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver senior-level technical expertise for transmission engineering projects.

• Oversee intricate transmission line design and analysis tasks.

• Execute transmission line designs from initial concept through to final design.

• Carry out EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop assessments.

• Perform economic evaluations of conductors, lightning performance assessments, grounding calculations, and electrical clearance evaluations.

• Interpret and apply standards set by NERC, FERC, NESC, and regional regulatory bodies.

• Prepare and review specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, and recommendations for purchases.

• Work collaboratively with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, construction support, and change order management.

• Conduct and review QA/QC processes for engineering deliverables, production drawings, CAD outputs, and construction administration activities.

• Address design-related issues that arise in the field.

• Lead field inspections, measurements, calculations, and reviews of installations.

• Create and present technical reports.

• Assist in marketing and business development initiatives.

• Foster relationships with clients and contractors.

• Mentor junior engineers.

• Ensure project deliverables are of high quality, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or a related field).

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in transmission line engineering (design, analysis, modeling, or similar roles).

• At least 5 years of experience with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.

• Over 5 years of experience utilizing PLS-CADD.

• Familiarity with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, FERC-881, and FAC-008 standards is preferred.

• Capacity to plan and manage assignments while effectively communicating any barriers to completing tasks within budget and schedule.

• Ability to work efficiently from a home office with minimal supervision.
