Senior Traffic Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning, implementation, and closeout of ITS, TSMO, TMC, traffic operations, and transportation technology projects.

• Create project scopes, timelines, budgets, resource allocations, and staffing plans.

• Coordinate efforts among multidisciplinary teams including engineering, operations, technology, field services, and subcontractors.

• Track project performance, budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.

• Assist in proposals, client engagements, project interviews, and business development activities.

• Supervise ITS infrastructure, communication networks, traffic signal systems, traffic management systems, and technology platforms.

• Manage CCTV, DMS, detection systems, traveler information systems, connected devices, field investigations, testing, deployment, and operational acceptance processes.

• Oversee data integration, interoperability, asset management, performance monitoring, and operational reporting initiatives.

• Advocate for emerging technologies, cloud applications, analytics, and connected transportation systems.

• Direct TMC operations, TSMO, regional traffic operations, operational assessments, procedures, workflows, and reporting processes.

• Collaborate with DOTs, local governments, MPOs, public safety, law enforcement, emergency management, and other stakeholders.

• Assist in operations during special events, emergencies, severe weather, and other critical situations.

• Manage signal operations, corridor management, signal timing, performance evaluations, ATSPM reviews, and modernization efforts.

• Act as the project manager and primary point of contact for clients.

• Facilitate meetings, workshops, presentations, and stakeholder coordination activities.

• Cultivate client relationships and identify opportunities for project growth.

• Lead and mentor ITS engineers, traffic engineers, operations specialists, technicians, and project personnel.

• Provide technical oversight and conduct quality reviews.

• Support staff development, recruiting, staffing, and resource planning efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Transportation, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

• 8 years of progressive experience in ITS, traffic operations, TMC operations, transportation technology, transportation systems integration, traffic signal systems, or equivalent experience and/or education.

• Proven experience managing transportation technology, ITS, traffic operations, or transportation infrastructure projects.

• Familiarity with working alongside state DOTs, local governments, transportation agencies, and operational stakeholders.

• Proficiency in transportation technologies, communication systems, operational software platforms, and ITS infrastructure.

• Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.

• A valid US Driver’s License is required.

• Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

• Professional Engineer (PE), PMP, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

• Experience with TMC operations, TSMO programs, traffic signal operations, ITS communications networks, transportation technology integration, operational analytics, asset management systems, transportation data platforms, Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, reporting systems, data integration, or cloud-based transportation applications is preferred.
