Senior Trade Compliance Analyst

📋 Description

• Act as the main point of contact for Trade Compliance concerning all import and export compliance activities in the EU, UK, and Switzerland.

• Ensure adherence to trade regulations in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Germany, and relevant international laws.

• Offer trade compliance expertise to internal stakeholders and assist operational teams in addressing customs, import/export, and regulatory challenges while minimizing disruptions to business.

• Foster relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, government authorities, and both internal and external partners.

• Assist in customs audits, inquiries, and regulatory reviews initiated by customs authorities.

• Monitor and analyze regulatory changes, implementing the required compliance measures.

• Create and uphold trade compliance procedures, work instructions, and internal controls.

• Identify and maintain HTS/TARIC/Swiss Customs Tariff and ECCN classifications for products, components, spare parts, machinery, and materials using Agile PLM, engineering specifications, technical documentation, and regulatory resources.

• Conduct research on customs rulings and regulatory guidance to aid classification decisions.

• Address Oracle OTM/GTM trade compliance holds related to classifications, ECCNs, country of origin, customs valuation, end-user records, and licensing data.

• Oversee EU, UK, German, and Swiss export licenses and authorizations, including application submissions, renewals, reporting, utilization monitoring, and recordkeeping.

• Act as a subject matter expert for BAFA export control requirements and systems, managing BAFA portal activities and aiding in licensing determinations.

• Document compliance decisions and maintain records that are auditable.

• Take ownership of and support Intrastat reporting by validating data and collaborating with Finance, Logistics, and customs brokers.

• Monitor and enforce EU, UK, and Swiss sanctions and trade restrictions, including those pertaining to Russian and Belarusian sanctions programs.

• Conduct sanctions reviews, assist in restricted party screening, assess transaction compliance risks, and maintain compliance documentation.

• Provide advice to stakeholders regarding sourcing decisions, supply chain modifications, STE/TAG assessments, product classification, and export control mandates.

• Perform trade compliance risk assessments, identify gaps and regulatory vulnerabilities, and implement corrective measures and process enhancements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs, Trade Compliance, Legal Studies, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may also be considered.

• Over 2 years of experience in a multinational Trade Compliance setting, customs compliance role, consulting practice, or law firm with a focus on import/export compliance, customs classification, export controls, and sanctions.

• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in both English and German.

• Proven experience in determining HTS/TARIC classifications and export control classifications for the EU, UK, and Switzerland.

• Familiarity with EU, UK, Swiss, and German import regulations and BAFA export control licensing processes.

• Experience utilizing trade automation systems such as Oracle OTM/GTM, SAP GTS, Descartes, GTC, or other similar trade compliance platforms.

• Experience collaborating with customs brokers and supporting EU customs declarations and import/export operations.

• Background in managing denied party screening and sanctions compliance assessments.

• Experience in supporting Intrastat reporting requirements.

• Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including skills in PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis techniques.

• Experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment (SME), industrial manufacturing, or other highly regulated, technology-driven sectors is preferred but not mandatory.

• Ability to convey complex trade compliance requirements to cross-functional business stakeholders.
