Senior Technical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Create, compose, and refine technical documentation, which encompasses API documentation, developer guides, reference materials, and release notes.

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and fellow documentation writers to collect information and ensure the accuracy and completeness of documentation.

• Conduct research by engaging with subject matter experts, analyzing product specifications, and performing software testing.

• Validate the accuracy of documentation content through testing.

• Utilize Command Line Interface (CLI) tools to test and document software features.

• Oversee and update existing documentation through revisions, updates, and the phasing out of outdated material.

• Establish and enhance documentation processes and standards, including document management and Git version control.

• Review documentation for technical precision and compliance with established guidelines.

• Contribute to project planning and management for documentation deliverables.

• Engage in product management discussions to ensure documentation aligns with product strategy.

• Take ownership of the documentation strategy for a specific product area, prioritizing content based on user adoption, support requirements, unmet needs, user behavior, support tickets, and adoption metrics.

• Collaborate with product and field teams to identify documentation gaps and recommend content investments.

• Work on Kong's API and AI connectivity platform, assisting organizations in securing, managing, accelerating, governing, and monetizing API and AI traffic.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing within a software development context.

• Proven proficiency in software documentation practices, particularly in API documentation and developer guides.

• Familiarity with API testing and experience using related tools.

• Skilled in using Command Line Interface (CLI).

• Experience or a keen interest in AI technologies.

• Solid background in using Git for version control and collaborative work.

• Demonstrated capability to conduct thorough research and synthesize intricate technical information.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp focus on detail and accuracy.

• Experience in maintaining documentation, document management, and review processes.

• Ability to approach a documentation area as a product, prioritizing based on user impact and adoption.

• Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.

• Legally authorized to work in the location where this position will be based.
