Senior Technical Specialist, Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the Technical Architect Subject Matter Expert in designing system architecture, planning integrations, and documenting technical decisions.

• Oversee the creation and documentation of source-to-target mapping specifications for the development of ETL pipelines.

• Create application integration architecture for federal species data, which includes specifications for API endpoints, data access patterns, and integration points for decision logic.

• Generate and maintain documentation for the technical architecture, including integration diagrams, data flow diagrams, and API specifications.

• Direct the design of interoperability testing architecture, establishing test coverage for API connectivity, authentication, data exchange protocols, metadata alignment, and complete data flow.

• Assist in the development of the production migration runbook, detailing technical cutover steps, validation checks, deployment sequences, and rollback procedures.

• Perform technical reviews of all code and pipeline deployments, ensuring adherence to peer review standards.

• Facilitate technical compliance validation, focusing on the accuracy of decision logic and consultation routing.

• Contribute to a federal data migration initiative that integrates marine and anadromous species data into the existing FWS platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree with 12 years of professional experience, a Master's degree with 10 years of professional experience, an Associate's degree with 16 years of professional experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent with 18 years of professional experience.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Significant experience in systems architecture or technical design within federal IT programs.

• Experience in designing API integration architectures and documenting data flows for federal systems.

• Strong understanding of federal IT governance frameworks and hybrid AWS cloud platform standards.

• Proficient in designing interoperability testing and producing technical documentation.

• Experience in creating production migration runbooks, which include cutover steps, validation checks, and rollback procedures.

• Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems for overseeing technical reviews and code deployments.

• Knowledge of REST API design standards and API gateway patterns for integrating federal systems.

• Skilled in producing architectural artifacts such as integration diagrams and API specifications.

• A Master's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, or a related technical field is highly desirable.

• TOGAF or a similar architecture certification is preferred.

• Experience with Databricks, Delta Live Tables, or cloud ETL pipeline architectures on AWS.

• Knowledge of FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST SP 800-171 compliance standards.

• Familiarity with the IPaC platform or DKey consultation systems used in federal environmental decision support tools.

• Experience in IT environments related to DOI, FWS, or NOAA Fisheries.

• AWS Solutions Architect or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certification is a plus.
