This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide expertise and content knowledge to advance the strategic priority of breastfeeding.
• Assist in the development and enhancement of breastfeeding content for the CDC’s website, utilizing knowledge of lactation science and evidence reviews.
• Coordinate the analysis of data, including indicators on environmental and policy supports for breastfeeding, for publication on DNPAO’s Data, Trends and Maps website.
• Conduct systematic reviews of scientific literature concerning breastfeeding and health outcomes.
• Update and produce surveillance reports and communication documents based on the implementation of the Breastfeeding Work Group’s annual work plan.
• Address inquiries from the public and partner organizations regarding breastfeeding topics.
• Facilitate the implementation of CDC’s Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care (mPINC) survey, including managing inquiries, survey instruments, reporting, and disseminating findings.
• Prepare, review, and create briefing documents, publications, and presentations for policymakers, hospital administrators, employers, and other key stakeholders.
• Regularly communicate information with CDC management and staff, providing input to document program activities and initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Master's degree in human nutrition, public health, epidemiology, behavioral science, or a related public health discipline is required.
• A Doctoral degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in breastfeeding and human lactation is necessary.
• At least 5 years of experience at the federal level supporting breastfeeding initiatives is required.
• Experience at the federal level related to the surveillance or implementation of maternity care practices that support breastfeeding and infant feeding is essential.
• Previous experience providing high-quality responses to public inquiries about breastfeeding and infant feeding is expected.
• Experience in managing or overseeing federal data releases and related communication efforts concerning infant feeding is required.
• Familiarity with behavioral, environmental, and policy aspects of breastfeeding support is necessary.
• Proficiency in common word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are required.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, a good listening ability, and the capacity to effectively represent the organization and its mission are required.
• Must reside and work in the United States for the duration of the position.
