This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +1 more country.
• Ensure timely and precise preparation, review, and submission of Indirect Tax returns (VAT, ESL, Intrastat) across designated jurisdictions.
• Take responsibility for VAT compliance and reporting processes for various European countries, ensuring conformity with local regulations and internal standards.
• Oversee the VAT settlement process, including the clearing and closing of transactions.
• Perform and review selected indirect tax postings and settlements, including journal entries and related payments.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining VAT logic and tax determination within ERP systems such as SAP, collaborating closely with Finance and IT departments.
• Engage in VAT-related projects, including the implementation of new regulatory requirements such as e-invoicing, SAF-T, and digital reporting.
• Ensure the execution of the Indirect Tax control framework, which includes monitoring, documentation, and ongoing enhancements.
• Guarantee complete VAT compliance for the countries under your responsibility, staying informed and applying local regulatory changes.
• Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for process improvement, escalating or driving enhancements as appropriate.
• Provide VAT guidance and assistance to internal stakeholders.
• Support both internal and external audits, ensuring the timely and accurate provision of documentation.
• Ensure proper documentation and record retention in accordance with compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with team members and offer guidance and support to less experienced colleagues.
• Serve as backup support for various VAT Compliance activities.
• Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned.
• Report to the TAX Leader.
• Extensive experience in VAT compliance and reporting across multiple European jurisdictions.
• Strong practical knowledge of European VAT regulations, including the ability to interpret and apply local requirements effectively.
• Experience with SAP, encompassing an understanding of tax determination logic and data flows that support VAT reporting.
• Eagerness to participate in VAT-related projects (e.g., e-invoicing, SAF-T, digital reporting, system implementations or enhancements); prior experience in this area is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a structured and detail-oriented approach.
• Capability to identify risks, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement within VAT processes and reporting.
• Good understanding of accounting principles relevant to indirect taxes (GL, postings, reconciliations, settlements).
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Finance, IT).
• Strong communication skills, including the capacity to explain VAT topics clearly and practically to non-tax stakeholders.
• High level of ownership, accountability, and proactivity in managing assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
• Experience in process improvement and/or automation initiatives is a plus.
