
Senior Tax Consultant – Sales, Use and Incentives

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Oversee compliance, planning, and disputes related to sales and use tax.
• Keep track of changes in indirect tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
• Spot opportunities for tax optimization, risk mitigation, and refund recovery.
• Aid in remediation efforts, controversies, corrective filings, technology upgrades, and process enhancement initiatives.
• Handle sales and use tax exemptions and incentives linked to data center operations and various state credit programs.
• Determine eligible company activities, evaluate supporting documents, and provide assistance with claims and filings.
• Prepare and assess calculations, tax forms, memoranda, executive summaries, and support for audit responses.
• Track legislative and regulatory advancements and pinpoint new incentives or areas for process improvements.
• Establish deliverables, monitor project progress, and report on tax-related initiatives.
• Cultivate relationships with teams across Infrastructure, Finance, Legal, and business sectors.
• Coordinate workstreams, guide teams, research business operations, communicate risks and opportunities, and collaborate with tax advisors and state and local authorities.
• Report directly to the Director of Indirect Tax.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales and use tax.
• Proven experience in sales and use tax compliance, planning, or dispute resolution.
• Background in preparing technical analyses, credit calculations, tax forms, memoranda, executive summaries, or audit response documentation.
• Strong technical expertise in sales/use tax and credits & incentives areas.
• Capability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Keen attention to detail and quality in work output.
• Ability to lead projects or workstreams and juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Strong influencing skills and the confidence to challenge existing processes.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining professional relationships.
• Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
