This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Maintain hardware systems, along with their operating systems and connectivity features, in an operational and integrated manner.
• Monitor, analyze, and plan necessary upgrades to ensure sufficient system capacity and availability.
• Provide technical leadership and support for computing systems and their integration.
• Conduct and present analyses on performance and capacity.
• Diagnose issues and coordinate problem resolution across the server and distributed systems environment, including collaboration with vendors and manufacturers.
• Respond to customer needs, manage customer relationships, and ensure issues are resolved completely.
• Assist application teams with both project and support activities.
• Engage in and communicate effectively with project teams.
• Develop strategies for system-to-network connectivity and interfacing.
• Review technology projects, analyze business requirements, recommend and implement system modifications, and document technical specifications.
• Create project plans, scopes, effort projections, schedules, and implementation strategies in collaboration with project managers.
• Establish and enforce standards, policies, and procedures for local area networks.
• Contribute to both long- and short-term technology planning.
• Integrate vendor, manufacturer, and subject-matter expertise into Northwestern Medicine.
• Mentor both immediate team members and application team members.
• Contribute to the IS Knowledge Repository.
• Provide on-call support.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in the core discipline.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Preferred: At least 5 years of experience in the core discipline within the healthcare industry.
• Extensive working knowledge of NMHC IT server and distributed systems.
• Technical proficiency in assigned services and systems, including their integration and interaction.
• Diagnostic skills across a server and distributed systems IT environment.
• Capability to provide technical leadership and systems integration support.
• Ability to analyze performance and capacity effectively.
• Understanding of business and clinical processes as well as customer operational environments.
• Proficiency in developing technical specifications and project plans.
• Capacity to establish and enforce LAN standards, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to provide on-call support.
