Senior System Performance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead comprehensive performance characterization and optimization for Ethernet processing solutions encompassing hardware, firmware, software, and system-level architectures.

• Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, firmware developers, driver teams, and performance architects to pinpoint performance bottlenecks.

• Formulate optimization strategies and provide high-performance Ethernet solutions for data center and edge networking applications.

• Define and implement performance validation strategies for Ethernet hardware and software subsystems.

• Assess throughput, packet processing rate (PPS), latency and jitter, buffer utilization, as well as CPU and memory efficiency.

• Examine packet processing pipelines to identify performance bottlenecks in hardware, drivers, and software stacks.

• Create methodologies to enhance Ethernet datapath performance across diverse traffic patterns and workloads.

• Evaluate the performance of Ethernet MAC, PHY, switch, NIC, and packet processing hardware.

• Investigate bus utilization, DMA performance, memory bandwidth, cache efficiency, and hardware acceleration engines.

• Conduct performance characterization on both pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or electronics.

• Minimum of 2+ years of professional or research experience.

• Proficient in Ethernet networking, packet processing, performance benchmarking, and root-cause analysis.

• Experience in analyzing throughput, packet processing rate (PPS), latency and jitter, buffer utilization, and CPU and memory efficiency.

• Skilled in assessing packet processing pipelines and identifying bottlenecks in hardware, drivers, and software stacks.

• Knowledgeable about Ethernet MAC, PHY, switch, NIC, and packet processing hardware.

• Familiar with analyzing bus utilization, DMA performance, memory bandwidth, cache efficiency, and hardware acceleration engines.

• Experience with pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms.
