Field Project Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee each deployment from initiation to go-live, which includes site surveys, project scoping, contractor scheduling, installation, testing, and handoff.

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while coordinating with customers, contractors, utilities, and AGent teams to ensure alignment on timelines and next steps.

• Supervise licensed contractors and assess their work to ensure compliance with installation standards prior to sign-off.

• Verify all sites prior to go-live, ensuring hardware connectivity, data transmission to the platform, and successful completion of tests.

• Collaborate with utilities regarding meter and data access and establish relationships with key utility contacts.

• Maintain site health post-go-live by addressing hardware and connectivity alerts, coordinating repairs, and tracking issues to resolution.

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, wiring, and connectivity problems on-site.

• Act as the primary technical contact for customers, assisting sales in scoping sites and establishing realistic timelines.

• Enhance kickoff checklists, installation standards, and alert runbooks.

• Provide feedback on field experiences to the engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience managing multiple field projects concurrently, coordinating customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to meet deadlines.

• Typically 3–6 years of experience in generator service, project engineering, commissioning, controls, or electrical contracting.

• Excellent, proactive communication skills with customers, both in-person and in writing.

• Ability to drive deliverables to completion independently.

• Reside in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or Wisconsin.

• Possess a valid driver's license.

• Willingness to travel approximately one week per month, and closer to two during peak seasons in each market.

• Comfort with performing hands-on technical work on-site, safely and in accordance with training guidelines.

• Preferred working knowledge of commercial or industrial standby generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS).

• Ability to scope a site, interpret one-line and control wiring diagrams, and identify issues in contractor work is preferred.

• Experience in demand response, virtual power plants, or energy services is preferred.

• Familiarity with utility metering, meter data, or utility program staff is preferred.

• Experience with building controls or telemetry, including BAS, Modbus, or cellular gateways, is preferred.

• Established relationships with electrical contractors or generator service providers in the region are preferred.

• A degree is appreciated but not mandatory.
