Senior System Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Administer and support designated infrastructure technologies to guarantee reliability, availability, and performance.

• Analyze both business and technical needs to develop appropriate infrastructure solutions.

• Lead and assist infrastructure projects by utilizing established project management methodologies.

• Design, implement, and sustain infrastructure architecture, standards, procedures, and documentation.

• Monitor the performance of infrastructure and execute maintenance, upgrades, and remediation tasks.

• Assess infrastructure processes and suggest enhancements for efficiency, service quality, and cost-effectiveness.

• Create project estimates, resource requirements, and cost analyses.

• Collaborate with business leaders, vendors, and technical teams to deliver technology solutions and fulfill service commitments.

• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.

• Ensure adherence to organizational standards, security requirements, governance frameworks, and business continuity practices.

• Be available via mobile services outside of standard working hours for upgrades, outages, and configuration changes.

• Steer technology decisions and work alongside senior leadership to balance performance, cost, and strategic goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• Technical training with applicable certification in assigned technology is required.

• At least eight years of experience in I.T. and/or application development is essential.

• Advanced understanding of enterprise infrastructure technologies, architecture, and system administration principles.

• Familiarity with networking, security, operating systems, storage, databases, disaster recovery, and related technologies.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Capability to plan, coordinate, and manage intricate technical projects and initiatives.

• Proficiency in developing and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and standards.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to organize tasks, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines effectively.

• Skill in building collaborative relationships and influencing stakeholders.

• Knowledge of IT service management, change management, ITIL, COBIT, and Agile methodologies.

• Capacity to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and offer technical leadership and mentoring.

• Must be reachable via mobile services during non-working hours for upgrades, system outages, and configuration adjustments.

• A Bachelor’s degree or completion of a Computer Science Program from a Technical Trade School is preferred.

• Experience in administering and supporting IBM WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Liberty, and IBM HTTP Server environments is desirable.

• Familiarity with managing Red Hat OpenShift and Azure Red Hat OpenShift platforms is preferred.

• Experience in implementing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions is a plus.

• Background in scripting, configuration management, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and Red Hat Ansible is preferred.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex issues related to applications, middleware, operating systems, networks, and IBM MQ/Kafka is preferred.

• Experience in collaborating with development, cloud, security, database, and network teams is advantageous.

• Ability to work in a conventional office environment and attend meetings both in person and virtually.
