Senior Symfony Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend systems utilizing PHP and Symfony.

• Take ownership of features from inception to production, including ticket creation and technical design.

• Produce clean, strongly-typed, maintainable, and testable code that adheres to strict quality standards.

• Thoughtfully and consistently apply design patterns.

• Build and uphold extensive automated test coverage using PHPUnit and similar tools.

• Adhere to and advocate for Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.

• Employ static analysis, linters, and code quality tools to guarantee reliability and consistency.

• Actively engage in code reviews, both giving and receiving constructive feedback.

• Collaborate with product, design, and QA teams to provide robust solutions.

• Decompose complex initiatives into actionable tasks and oversee their implementation.

• Monitor systems and participate in a rotating on-call schedule as needed.

• Advocate for secure coding practices and ensure code is devoid of known vulnerabilities.

• Document architecture, decisions, and processes thoroughly.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while contributing to the engineering culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience with PHP (versions 7.4 / 8+).

• More than 3 years of hands-on experience with the Symfony framework.

• Strong grasp and practical application of design patterns.

• Extensive experience with unit and integration testing (PHPUnit, Behat, or similar).

• Practical experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Familiarity with static analysis tools (PHPStan, Psalm, or similar).

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, code coverage, and deployment workflows.

• Excellent technical communication abilities, with the capability to explain and defend technical decisions.

• High ownership mentality coupled with a strong sense of accountability.

• Proven experience with Symfony is essential; experience solely with Laravel does not qualify.
