Senior Support Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Operate under the direct oversight of an Attorney IV

• Assist with high-profile cases

• Summarize discovery responses and medical records within 30 days of receiving them at the office

• Conduct and defend depositions for parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses

• Complete summaries of depositions within 15 days following the deposition

• Perform legal research

• Draft motions, oppositions, and responses to motions

• Appear in court for law and motion proceedings

• Prepare essential trial documents, including motions in limine and oppositions

• Ensure compliance with CCP §2025.340(m) for video depositions

• Attend trials and provide support to the trial attorney, including conducting trial research, directed-verdict motions, nonsuit motions, and both direct and cross-examinations of witnesses

• Manage miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Attorney IV

• Operate independently with minimal supervision while handling a significant caseload

• Maintain consistent attendance with a full-time schedule of at least 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree required

• Must be admitted to the bar in the relevant state(s)

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed attorney

• At least 3 years of experience in insurance defense or equivalent relevant experience

• Extensive knowledge of insurance law, tort law, evidence code, civil procedure, and trial procedure

• Exceptional communication, persuasion, writing, and analytical abilities

• Proficient in conducting and defending depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Strong legal research and law and motion capabilities

• Must adhere to established company standards regarding driving history and license status

• Significant automobile travel may be required, up to 20% of work time

• Preferred: Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited or state-accredited law school

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience as a licensed attorney

• Preferred: More than 5 years in insurance defense

• Preferred: Experience with insurance defense BI trial cases

• Preferred: Substantial experience in expert witness discovery and trial practice

• Preferred: Outstanding communication, persuasion, and analytical skills
