This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership to engineers and designers working on protection, control, and metering systems for high-voltage substations.

• Act as the Technical Lead on assigned projects, overseeing designs from initial planning through to construction and commissioning.

• Create and evaluate protection planning and application documents.

• Develop and assess one-lines, schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.

• Conduct protection coordination studies and set relay parameters for utility transmission systems.

• Lead engineering design reviews, factory acceptance tests, and field inspections.

• Assist with construction, outage planning, and commissioning efforts.

• Engage in client technical, Safety by Design, and constructability review meetings.

• Prepare or review project scopes, feasibility studies, estimates, and deliverables during the definition phase.

• Collaborate with the Business Development team on proposals and cost estimates.

• Serve as the technical point of contact for clients and external partners.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers while contributing to the continuous enhancement of P&C standards and practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience in utility-focused protection, control, and metering engineering.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.

• Eligible for (or currently holds) Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada.

• Extensive experience in P&C detailed design drawings and substation protection philosophy development.

• Proficient in conducting protection coordination studies and setting relays for high-voltage transmission systems.

• Hands-on experience with relay software such as ASPEN, CAPE, EasyPower, SKM, and relay platforms from SEL and GE.

• Solid understanding of substation construction, commissioning, and outage planning.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience with EPC projects and familiarity with utility maintenance and operational practices are significant advantages.

• Ability to work in Canada; eligibility for or current P.Eng. registration in Canada is required.
