Senior Substation Physical Designer 1 – Grid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and other designers to design high and extra high voltage substations.

• Create general arrangement drawings for substations.

• Develop plans for substation electrical equipment.

• Generate section views and elevations for substations.

• Compile detailed bills of material for substations.

• Design lightning stroke shielding plans for substations.

• Formulate grounding plans for substations.

• Prepare details for conduit, electrical connections, and grounding in substations.

• Draft plans for below-grade conduit and raceways for substations.

• Create plans and sections for control building equipment, cable trays, lighting, and grounding.

• Interpret vendor information and integrate it into design deliverables.

• Conduct walkdowns at client facilities.

• Adhere to client standards relevant to the work.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in substation physical design.

• An Associate's Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma accompanied by 2 or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

• Capable of visualizing parts in 3D without computer assistance.

• Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles pertinent to the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

• Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.
