This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the performance, reliability, and technical management of substation and MV/HV systems throughout the operating fleet.
• Lead the resolution of significant equipment failures, recurring problems, and intricate technical challenges using structured root cause analysis and corrective measures.
• Offer advanced troubleshooting assistance for transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection and control systems, and associated equipment.
• Act as the primary engineering liaison with utilities, OEMs, contractors, and technical service providers.
• Supervise fleet protection and control systems, encompassing settings, logic, coordination, event analysis, and configuration management.
• Create lifecycle strategies for major substation assets, which include condition assessments, maintenance optimization, spare parts planning, and replacement strategies.
• Collaborate with Delivery and Engineering teams to influence equipment selection, design standards, protection philosophies, and commissioning practices.
• Work together with Asset Management, O&M, Compliance, Performance Engineering, and ROC teams to enhance reliability, safety, and operational performance.
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Over 7 years of experience with substations, MV/HV systems, power system operations, or related electrical infrastructure.
• Practical experience in troubleshooting, commissioning, testing, or maintaining substation equipment.
• Familiarity with protection and control systems, relay analysis, coordination, or related functions.
• A robust understanding of power transformers, breakers, switchgear, and MV/HV equipment.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience in utility-scale solar, power generation, renewable energy, industrial power, or utility preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards and utility interconnection requirements is preferred.
• Experience supporting renewable generation interconnections is preferred.
• Background in reliability engineering, failure mode analysis, and condition-based maintenance programs is preferred.
• Experience collaborating with equipment OEMs, utilities, contractors, and cross-functional teams is preferred.
