Senior Substation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Provide assistance on projects within the Substation Engineering team

• Engage in electric utility substation projects that range from 4kV to 345kV

• Create general arrangements for substations

• Develop layout plans and cross-sections for control houses

• Design systems for grounding and lightning protection

• Prepare layouts for conduits/trenches and compile material lists

• Conduct calculations for grounding, lightning protection, voltage drop, and AC/DC load studies

• Support and coordinate engineering and design efforts related to civil/structural components

• Collaborate with Protection and Control Engineering

• Carry out quality control and assurance evaluations

• Assist projects from initial scoping through to final design and project closure

• Provide support during construction phases

• Uphold a strong focus on client relations and customer service

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is advantageous with a desire to obtain Professional Engineering Licensure (PE)

• At least five (5) years of experience in the electric utility sector

• Direct involvement with substation projects for electric utilities

• Experience in utility substation engineering with an emphasis on electrical or physical design aspects

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is beneficial

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities

• Must be a sociable team player capable of instilling client confidence

• Strong focus on client relations and customer service

• Ability to interface with other disciplines and engage with clients
