Senior Structural Designer – Grid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create AIS and GIS substation electrical physical layout drawings utilizing both 2D and 3D modeling techniques.

• Design structures and foundations for substations.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve structural design challenges.

• Employ 3D modeling software to produce electrical design schematics.

• Oversee the detailed design phases for integrated substation design models.

• Collaborate with designers and project team members to ensure designs are comprehensive and delivered on time.

• Independently plan and execute structural design deliverables, as well as work as part of a design team.

• Occasionally join senior designers and engineers on site visits and data collection at client locations.

• Provide guidance in drafting tools and mentor junior drafters and designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with at least one year of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of in-depth structural design experience, particularly in creating foundation plans, details, and structure specifics.

• Fundamental knowledge of substation physical design.

• Proficient in using MicroStation or AutoCAD along with design software tools for executing 3D plant layout models.

• Experience in reviewing structural drawings that involve electrical substation equipment outlines and interface points.

• Ability to engage with engineering and design teams from various disciplines throughout the substation design process.

• Preferred but not mandatory: Familiarity with MicroStation, Bentley Descartes, AutoCAD, Raster Design, Inventor, SDS, and/or Bentley Substation.
