Senior Strategic Mining Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead technical expert in mining engineering for multidisciplinary mining projects.

• Oversee technical evaluations and engineering studies for surface mining operations.

• Offer technical guidance throughout concept, prefeasibility, feasibility, and detailed engineering studies.

• Collaborate with teams in mining, civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, environmental, and water resources.

• Utilize and guide others in mine planning software applications.

• Conduct optimization of pits, phases, and scheduling.

• Review and approve as Qualified Person / Competent Person for compliant reserves reporting.

• Prepare and assess technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and design packages.

• Execute engineering analyses for mine planning, infrastructure, operational enhancements, and project implementation.

• Evaluate engineering outputs for technical quality and adherence to industry standards.

• Mentor junior and intermediate mining engineers.

• Engage in interdisciplinary design reviews and troubleshoot technical issues.

• Assist with construction engineering, field assessments, commissioning, and operational problem-solving.

• Ensure adherence to client specifications, industry regulations, and AECOM quality protocols.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree complemented by 10 years of pertinent experience or a proven equivalent in experience and/or education.

• A Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

• Over 12 years of progressive experience in mining engineering is advantageous.

• Credentials as a Qualified Person / Competent Person or a Professional Engineer license are preferred.

• Highly proficient with Minesight (MPSO), Deswik (Spatial-LHS-IS), Datamine (NPVS/Minemax), Vulcan, or equivalent software.

• Familiarity with Whittle software is desirable.

• Proven experience in leading the technical execution of multidisciplinary mining projects.

• Background in supporting projects from the concept phase through detailed engineering.

• Experience in Python programming and scripting.

• Capability to provide technical leadership, engineering judgment, mentorship, and approval for compliant reserves reporting.
