Senior Strategic Mining Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead technical authority for senior mining engineering on diverse mining projects.

• Oversee technical assessments and engineering evaluations for surface mining operations.

• Offer technical guidance throughout the stages of concept, prefeasibility, feasibility, and detailed engineering studies.

• Collaborate with teams in mining, civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, environmental, and water resources.

• Utilize and provide mentorship in mine planning software.

• Conduct optimization for pits, phases, and scheduling.

• Review and authorize as QP/CP for NI 43-101, S-K 1300, and JORC-compliant reserves reporting.

• Prepare and evaluate technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and design documentation.

• Execute engineering analyses for mine planning, infrastructure enhancement, operational advancements, and project execution.

• Assess engineering outputs for technical quality and adherence to standards.

• Offer technical mentorship and support to junior and intermediate mining engineers.

• Engage in interdisciplinary design evaluations and address technical challenges.

• Assist with construction engineering, field assessments, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting.

• Ensure adherence to client specifications, industry standards, and AECOM quality protocols.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree along with 10 years of relevant experience or a proven equivalent of experience and/or education.

• Preferred: 12+ years of progressive experience in mining engineering.

• Preferred: Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.

• Preferred: Credentials as a Qualified Person (QP) / Competent Person (CP) or a Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Proficient in Minesight (MPSO), Deswik (Spatial-LHS-IS), Datamine (NPVS/Minemax), Vulcan, or comparable software.

• Familiarity with Whittle software.

• Experience in leading the technical execution of multidisciplinary mining projects.

• Background in supporting projects from the conceptual phase through to detailed engineering.

• Experience with optimizing pits, phases, and scheduling.

• Proficiency in Python programming/scripting.
