This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +17 more states.
• Represent the technical stance of Identity Digital in standards working groups in the absence of the CTO.
• Monitor related drafts and mailing-list discussions, highlighting significant updates.
• Update specifications and address review feedback.
• Create supporting documentation to facilitate the progression of drafts through standards protocols.
• Develop reference implementations, interoperability tests, and demonstrations.
• Establish lasting technical credibility with participants in the standards community.
• Take responsibility for secondary drafts as reputation is built.
• Attend sessions on behalf of the CTO and prepare summaries.
• Provide thorough and timely feedback on draft review comments.
• Ensure functional implementations are available for claims made in specifications.
• Actively embody and promote the core values of Identity Digital.
• Execute other assigned responsibilities.
• 5 to 8 years of practical experience in protocol or infrastructure engineering.
• Current involvement in a standards community, working group, or significant open source project is highly regarded.
• Proficient knowledge in identity infrastructure, encompassing OAuth, OpenID Connect, PKI, DNS, Verifiable Credentials, or comparable protocols.
• Proven ability to write clearly and effectively under scrutiny.
• Composure to maintain a technical stance among senior individuals and the wisdom to know when to concede.
• Ability to navigate between engineers, open source communities, and technical audiences in enterprise or government sectors.
• Comfort in acting as a delegate, accurately representing another's position.
• Commitment to sustained, multi-year contributions.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Capability to work across various time zones as part of a global organization when necessary.
• Ability to endure prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Completion of a satisfactory background check is required.
