This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +33 more states.
• Develop and sustain quantitative models grounded in HDD architecture, physics, component dynamics, and system-level interactions.
• Integrate cost estimates, sourcing considerations, technological constraints, engineering tolerances, and manufacturing processes into the models.
• Generate forecasts that include nominal expectations, sensitivity analyses, and scenario planning.
• Evaluate the impact of technology selections on factory throughput, scrap rates, bottlenecks, test coverage, and long-term cost efficiency.
• Construct comprehensive bottom-up HDD cost models with detailed component analysis.
• Oversee competitive cost breakdowns, cost modeling, and scenario evaluations.
• Analyze industry differences in HDD technology and articulate the associated costs, performance metrics, sourcing options, and market benefits.
• Collaborate with pricing teams and portfolio managers on business and competitive assessments.
• Convert analytical results into actionable inputs for roadmaps, pricing strategies, warranty considerations, and customer interactions.
• Facilitate data-driven discussions with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and technology strategy teams.
• Shape decisions through technical expertise and data-informed insights.
• Maintain clear and documented models along with their underlying assumptions.
• Create scalable analytical frameworks to support long-term decision-making.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Significant experience in technical modeling, systems analysis, or technology strategy.
• Profound knowledge of HDD architecture, physics, and manufacturing methodologies.
• Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities.
• Proven experience in constructing and upkeeping structured models.
• In-depth understanding of the HDD competitive landscape.
• Proficiency in conducting competitive cost analyses and scenario evaluations.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and incomplete datasets effectively.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience presenting to senior stakeholders or external clients.
• Capacity to collaborate and influence across engineering, operations, sourcing, marketing, finance, and sales teams.
• Background in the storage industry/devices, hardware platforms, infrastructure systems, or large-scale technology implementations.
• Familiarity with total cost of ownership analysis in the storage market.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Operations Research, or equivalent experience.
