Senior Staff Performance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Write code and tests, create prototypes, address challenges, and assess and enhance performance bottlenecks.

• Gain insights into issues and solutions within a large, intricate, and evolving codebase.

• Utilize C++, JavaScript, Kotlin, Rust, and Python to resolve performance issues, with a focus on C++ and JavaScript.

• Provide guidance to engineers from other teams on efficient coding practices through code reviews, presentations, tools, and documentation.

• Independently identify and drive actionable next steps based on high-level goals.

• Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the organization to support and lead performance initiatives.

• Define future performance benchmarks and establish priorities for essential enhancements.

• Formulate strategies for the ongoing development of the Performance team and the organization.

• Work alongside dedicated team members to help deliver the Open Web to millions of users.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, along with 7+ years of relevant experience.

• Mastery of programming in C++.

• Proficiency in programming with JavaScript.

• Demonstrated experience in developing performance-critical software.

• An experimental and analytical approach to problem-solving, including measurement and experimentation.

• Proven expertise in debugging and analyzing performance bottlenecks, utilizing profiling tools such as VTune and Xperf.

• Experience with multithreading, concurrency, disk I/O, and GPU.

• A successful history of establishing team objectives and driving them to completion.

• Experience in motivating and aligning cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.

• Ability and enthusiasm for working in a distributed team, with strong asynchronous written and verbal communication skills.
