Senior Staff Performance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Write code and tests, create prototypes, address issues, and evaluate performance bottlenecks.

• Gain insights into challenges and solutions within a vast, intricate, and evolving codebase.

• Utilize C++, JavaScript, Kotlin, Rust, and Python to resolve performance concerns, with a focus on C++ and JavaScript.

• Provide guidance to engineers on producing high-performance code through code reviews, presentations, tools, and documentation.

• Independently establish and propel actionable next steps derived from overarching objectives.

• Collaborate with engineering teams across the organization to support and lead performance initiatives.

• Influence upcoming performance benchmarks and prioritize essential enhancements.

• Formulate strategies for the future of the Performance team and the organization.

• Partner with dedicated team members to deliver the Open Web experience to millions.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with over 7 years of relevant experience.

• Mastery of programming in C++.

• Proficient understanding of programming in JavaScript.

• Demonstrated experience in developing performance-critical software.

• A methodical and experimental approach to problem-solving, including measurement and experimentation to identify issues or validate solutions.

• Proven expertise in debugging and analyzing performance bottlenecks, utilizing profiling tools such as VTune, Xperf, and other sampling-based profilers.

• Familiarity with multithreading, concurrency, disk I/O, and GPU.

• A strong history of setting team objectives and successfully achieving them.

• Experience in motivating and coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.

• Interest and capability to function in a distributed team environment, necessitating effective asynchronous written and verbal communication skills.
