Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer – BlueSky

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conceptualize and implement mechanical systems for cutting-edge aerospace blue-sky platforms from initial design to actual operation.

• Lead hardware development throughout the entire product lifecycle, which encompasses concept, prototyping, testing, production, and field support.

• Engage in hands-on CAD work, engineering analysis, and testing activities.

• Design, evaluate, and integrate mechanical systems and subsystems, involving avionics packaging, harnessing, connector selection, and structural components.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to guarantee that designs are manufacturable, testable, and dependable.

• Offer practical technical support during testing, demonstrations, and field operations.

• Diagnose mechanical issues and implement design solutions within tight deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

• 5 to 6 years of practical mechanical design experience in aerospace, ground support equipment, or similar ruggedized hardware systems.

• Proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or comparable tools.

• Capable of producing detailed drawings, assemblies, and GD&T-compliant documentation.

• Strong knowledge base in structural design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.

• Experience executing engineering calculations including stress, thermal, tolerance stack-up, fatigue, and FEA where applicable.

• Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management.

• Preferred: proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.

• Preferred: knowledge of ASME, ISO, ASTM, or relevant industry-specific regulatory standards.

• Preferred: understanding of MIL-STD requirements and environmental qualification testing.

• Preferred: familiarity with power distribution, hydraulics, or aerospace support systems.

• Preferred: experience collaborating with external suppliers or contract manufacturers.

• Successful background clearance and potential reference check required.
