Senior Staff Engineer – Mobile, Kotlin

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Acquire a deep understanding of the industry, product, and roadmap to influence team strategy and organizational direction.

• Oversee the comprehensive technical execution of intricate features and systems from conceptualization and architecture to deployment and enhancement.

• Establish and uphold engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices.

• Lead decisions regarding the Android and mobile ecosystem for Fanatics applications through Kotlin Multiplatform.

• Collaborate with product, design, and stakeholders on significant technical decisions that align with business objectives and scalability.

• Exchange best practices, code, and features between iOS and Android applications.

• Manage incident resolution as part of the on-call rotation.

• Recognize and eliminate obstacles across complex projects.

• Conduct and elevate the standards of code reviews.

• Guide team planning and design discussions.

• Enhance software quality, testability, operational metrics, and documentation.

• Mentor and support engineers at all levels.

• Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in developing highly scalable and efficient Android applications.

• Proficiency in Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose Multiplatform, and various Android technologies.

• Proven ability to build consensus and mentor peers in coding and architectural strategies.

• Systems-level functional knowledge or experience with Backend Client API, Platform Engineering, and client-supporting systems in Marketing and Analytics.

• Familiarity with observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and tracing in native applications.

• Exceptional communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts to engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Team-oriented mindset and readiness to do what is necessary to achieve objectives.

• Capability to excel in a high-growth environment with changing priorities and swift decision-making.

• Preferred: experience in sharing code across native and cross-platform applications using Kotlin Multiplatform or Compose Multiplatform.

• Preferred: experience with webviews and integrating seamless app experiences across technologies.

• Preferred: background in sports, e-commerce, or gaming.

• Preferred: ability to navigate diverse legacy and greenfield codebases, languages, and environments.
