Senior Staff Compiler Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the server-side JavaScript engine that is central to the ServiceNow platform.

• Enhance execution engines, memory management, and overall system performance.

• Design and refine execution engines, JIT/AOT compilation pipelines, and memory management systems.

• Create high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code by adhering to software engineering best practices.

• Carry out code reviews and perform unit testing.

• Collaborate with product owners to gain a comprehensive understanding of detailed requirements.

• Take ownership of the code throughout the phases of design, implementation, test automation, and delivery.

• Develop user-friendly software that allows customers to extend and customize functionality.

• Mentor team members and encourage knowledge-sharing across teams on low-level systems engineering, performance profiling, and optimization techniques.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience with Java or a similar object-oriented programming language.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience working on compilers, runtime systems, JIT/AOT systems, or language execution engines.

• Proficient in integrating AI into software development, workflows, decision-making, or automation using AI-driven tools and technologies.

• Extensive experience with compiler/runtime systems, including execution engines, memory management, concurrency, JIT/AOT compilation, performance optimization, profiling, and debugging.

• In-depth knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and considerations for systems-level performance and scalability.

• A strong passion for JavaScript and the Web as a platform.

• Familiarity with modern UI frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.

• Experience in developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing relational databases.

• Experience with LLVM, language runtime development, or low-level systems engineering is highly desirable.

• Proven ability to work across various technology stacks, including Cloud Development, Platforms, Web Development, Frameworks, and service-oriented architecture.

• Ability to manage multiple projects with significant technical risk across teams and processes, potentially serving as a functional lead or technical owner.
