This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the creation of innovative algorithms and analytical techniques for RNA and multiomic sequencing applications.
• Design, assess, and implement scalable bioinformatics workflows for bulk RNA-seq, single-cell sequencing, CRISPR/Perturb-seq, ATAC-seq, CROP-seq, and new multiomic assays.
• Utilize machine learning, AI-driven methods, foundation models, LLM-enabled workflows, and biological foundation models for method development, validation, interpretation, and product innovation.
• Collaborate with bioinformatics scientists, software engineers, FPGA engineers, assay development teams, and product teams to develop high-quality production software.
• Lead technical initiatives, establish requirements, influence product direction, assess risks, and promote innovation across various product cycles.
• Mentor scientists and engineers while contributing to scientific and technical leadership.
• Assess emerging technologies and pinpoint opportunities for new features, products, analytical capabilities, and intellectual property.
• A PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Extensive experience in developing bioinformatics algorithms, analytical methods, and production software for NGS applications.
• Strong foundation in transcriptomics, statistical modeling, and biological data analysis.
• Proficient in C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Experience in designing, validating, benchmarking, and interpreting computational methods for complex biological datasets.
• Familiarity with applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, or modern data science techniques to biological data analysis, method development, or software validation.
• Proven technical leadership and ability to independently manage complex projects from initial concept to product delivery.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a talent for influencing cross-functional teams and technical strategies.
• A history of innovation demonstrated through publications, patents, invention disclosures, open-source contributions, or commercial product development.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with bulk RNA-seq, gene expression analysis, alternative splicing, gene fusion detection, RNA biomarker development, single-cell genomics/transcriptomics, CRISPR/Perturb-seq, CROP-seq, ATAC-seq, spatial transcriptomics, AI/ML/LLM or biological foundation models, AI-assisted development tools, cloud/distributed computing, large-scale genomic data processing, oncology, clinical genomics, population genomics, translational research, or biotechnology product development.
• Typically requires 12 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
