
Senior Software Systems Engineer – Autonomous Systems Validation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Create scalable frameworks and methodologies to assess validation confidence across both simulation and real-world testing.
• Develop tools and data pipelines for executing tests, conducting analyses, computing metrics, generating scorecards, and reporting confidence levels.
• Assess the validity of simulations and the predictive capability of road data using quantifiable and justifiable criteria.
• Examine test data and vehicle information to uncover uncertainties, pipeline challenges, regressions, and evidence gaps.
• Convert validation assertions and release inquiries into specifications, experiments, test suites, metrics, and quantitative decision-making criteria.
• Enhance the throughput, consistency, and quality of validation processes.
• Collaborate with teams focused on simulation, safety, autonomy, and release strategies.
• Clearly convey findings, assumptions, limitations, and recommendations.
• Generate validation evidence that supports decisions regarding risk assessment, readiness, and product release.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, or a similar language.
• Proven experience in writing clear, testable, and maintainable code.
• Background in applying engineering or quantitative techniques to physical, cyber-physical, or other real-world systems.
• Skilled at transforming ambiguous validation inquiries into quantifiable requirements, metrics, experiments, or decision-making criteria.
• Capable of investigating complex behaviors with incomplete or noisy datasets.
• Ability to work collaboratively across various disciplines and present technical outcomes with appropriate accuracy and context.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred: experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, simulation, aerospace, industrial automation, or any safety-critical engineered system.
• Preferred: familiarity with verification and validation, test automation, scenario generation, requirements-based testing, or performance benchmarking.
• Preferred: experience in designing coverage metrics, scorecards, confidence indicators, or regression-detection techniques.
• Preferred: experience in simulation-to-real-world correlation, predictive validity analysis, or comparing results across different testing environments.
• Preferred: applied knowledge of probability, statistics, experimental design, or data analysis.
• Preferred: experience with data pipelines, SQL, scientific computing, or large-scale test execution.
• Preferred: a graduate degree or equivalent expertise in a related technical field.
