Senior Software Engineer – Workday Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain highly scalable software services that enhance Workday Finance capabilities.

• Take ownership of intricate technical challenges from requirements gathering and architecture to implementation, production deployment, and ongoing support.

• Create and implement dependable APIs, backend services, data models, and distributed systems.

• Develop solutions that facilitate financial transactions, accounting, billing, revenue, reporting, and associated Finance workflows.

• Ensure the accuracy, consistency, security, traceability, and auditability of financial data.

• Design systems capable of managing high transaction volumes while adhering to performance, availability, and reliability standards.

• Construct resilient services with suitable handling of retries, failures, duplicate transactions, and data reconciliation.

• Engage in architecture and design reviews, influencing the technical direction of projects.

• Collaborate with Product Management and finance subject-matter experts to convert business requirements into effective technical designs.

• Diagnose complex production issues and continuously enhance system reliability, performance, and observability.

• Create automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Contribute to CI/CD, DevOps, monitoring, logging, and overall operational excellence.

• Identify opportunities to streamline architecture, enhance engineering processes, and minimize technical debt.

• Mentor fellow engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.

• Advocate for engineering best practices through code reviews and initiatives for continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of managing complex systems.

• Proficient programming skills in one or more modern languages such as Java, Python, C++, Go, or similar.

• Strong grasp of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.

• Experience in designing and developing distributed systems and scalable backend services.

• Extensive experience with RESTful APIs, service-oriented or microservice architectures, and asynchronous/event-driven systems.

• Strong SQL and relational database skills.

• Familiarity with cloud technologies and contemporary software development methodologies.

• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and production support.

• Proven ability to analyze complex technical challenges and devise practical, scalable solutions.

• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Background in developing ERP, Finance, accounting, billing, revenue, or financial management software.

• Understanding of financial concepts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, revenue recognition, accounting periods, and financial reporting.

• Experience with high-volume transaction-processing systems.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed messaging systems.

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or similar container technologies.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or other cloud platforms.

• Experience in designing multi-tenant SaaS applications.

• Awareness of financial data reconciliation, auditability, and data integrity requirements.

• Experience working within an enterprise SaaS environment.

• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience.
