Senior Software Engineer, Web Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance the architecture, performance, and developer tools of the Shreddit web platform that powers reddit.com.

• Oversee the complete delivery of intricate, cross-service projects that involve asset delivery, HTML processing, observability, and reliability.

• Optimize the global performance of Shreddit.

• Advance HTML rendering techniques.

• Improve the resiliency and scalability of web infrastructure.

• Conduct code reviews and assess detailed design documents.

• Offer constructive feedback on product specifications and UI mockups.

• Establish developer workflows and advocate for engineering best practices.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

• Develop AI tools, automated workflows, and streamlined CI/CD pipelines to enhance the developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong expertise in modern web stacks, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.

• Demonstrated success in converting complex issues into performant, scalable, secure, responsive, production-ready applications.

• Experience in tracing, profiling, and optimizing performance related to network calls, rendering, or data access paths.

• Experience in monitoring and reporting on operational health.

• Experience in implementing AI workflows and tools for web development, optimization, and debugging.

• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs.

• Familiarity with REST, GraphQL, gRPC, HTTP, or basic Thrift concepts.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Interest in emerging technologies and current industry trends, standards, and performance enhancements.
