Senior Software Engineer, Virtual Care Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the initial engineering response for production and support challenges during business hours

• Assess and prioritize issues based on their impact on patients

• Identify and resolve bugs within a large Django codebase and its associated services

• Perform secure live edits on production data related to billing, coverage, eligibility, and invoice matters

• Take ownership of and enhance the admin portal and internal tools

• Create documentation, runbooks, and diagnostic tools to facilitate self-service for Support

• Collaborate with Support, Clinical Operations, Implementations, and Engineering to transform recurring incidents into lasting solutions

• Monitor trends in eligibility, coverage, billing, and clinical integration issues

• Oversee operational health metrics, including appointment coverage, invoice transmission, price accuracy, lab processing, and e-prescribing errors

• Lead the initiative for the Kafka-based AWS MSK Event Bus using CloudEvents and Python

• Integrate the Event Bus library, establish event contracts, and promote adoption across various teams

• Utilize AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude for root-cause analysis, data corrections, and code reviews

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, functioning at a senior level with a proven track record of managing production systems end to end

• Extensive, hands-on expertise in Python and Django

• Familiarity with Django REST Framework APIs, Celery asynchronous task processing, and complex ORM queries spanning multiple databases

• Demonstrated skills in debugging and troubleshooting production issues

• Experience with relational databases (MySQL and/or PostgreSQL), including crafting and optimizing queries and understanding multi-database routing

• Experience managing production SaaS environments, preferably multi-tenant

• Strong written communication skills for documentation, runbooks, and collaboration across functions

• Capacity to work independently as a self-directed owner

• Proficiency in utilizing AI development tools

• Experience in developing software within the healthcare sector or any high-stakes, heavily regulated, or safety-critical domain is advantageous

• Background with Apache Kafka, AWS MSK, or event-driven architectures is a plus

• Understanding of healthcare billing and revenue cycle management concepts is beneficial

• Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, or health information exchange platforms is advantageous

• Experience in production environments with ElasticSearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, or Celery is a bonus

• Experience with e-prescribing systems, lab integrations, or pharmacy workflows is a bonus

• TypeScript experience or willingness to learn is a bonus

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines is a bonus

• Previous experience in production support, sustaining, or reliability-focused engineering is a bonus
