Senior Software Engineer – Trust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage Trust backend services that integrate external identity data sources.

• Enhance global outreach by onboarding additional countries and data sources.

• Create abstractions to streamline future integrations.

• Transform inconsistent upstream data into uniform verification outcomes.

• Establish matching and validation criteria for identity data.

• Architect resilient systems that incorporate timeouts, retries, idempotency, backpressure, circuit breaking, graceful degradation, compatibility testing, elimination of single points of failure (SPOF), and monitoring.

• Manage sensitive personal data in compliance with regional residency and regulations.

• Engage in on-call rotations, incident responses, and postmortem analyses.

• Promote engineering excellence through code reviews, continuous integration practices, runbooks, and mentoring.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing large-scale backend applications using Python, including event-driven and asynchronous architectures with message queues (e.g., SQS, RabbitMQ, or equivalent).

• Practical experience in integrating third-party APIs at scale.

• Demonstrated ownership of production-critical services along with on-call duties.

• Extensive experience in designing resilient distributed systems, focusing on idempotency, retries, backpressure, timeouts, and backward compatibility.

• Strong skills in data modeling.

• Profound understanding of modular design concepts and SOLID principles.

• Practical experience in creating scalable, maintainable APIs.

• Expertise in testing strategies to ensure robust and dependable software, including testing external dependencies.

• Solid grasp of relational database fundamentals.

• Familiarity with structured logging and observability methodologies.

• Excellent communication abilities and a capacity to collaborate with Product, Compliance, and external data providers.
