Senior Software Engineer – Storybook

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Play a key role in maintaining the Storybook codebase as a core contributor.

• Design, develop, and enhance Storybook APIs for end users, addon authors, and fellow core maintainers.

• Manage issue triaging, review pull requests, assist contributors, and write or evaluate RFCs.

• Gain insight into how developers utilize Storybook and create educational materials to help users leverage newly released features.

• Engage actively with the broader developer community and potentially present at conferences.

• Collaborate closely with other engineering teams at Chromatic to ensure seamless integration between Chromatic and Storybook.

• Take part in the engineering team’s support rotation primarily during business hours.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in web development using JavaScript/TypeScript or other relevant programming languages.

• Proven experience in developing tools, frameworks, or libraries designed for other developers.

• Strong knowledge of the “backend of frontend,” including the inner workings of modern web frameworks and build tools.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Comfortable working asynchronously within a distributed team.

• A genuine interest in engaging with developer communities.

• Ability to form independent opinions, articulate reasoning, and remain open to alternative viewpoints.

• A true passion for enhancing the lives of developers and influencing frontend development.

• Previous experience as an open-source maintainer is not mandatory.
