Senior Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails, .NET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead the design and development of new features and critical enhancements.

• Make architectural decisions and propose technical improvements at the system level.

• Design and implement high-performance services and components using Ruby on Rails and .NET.

• Design and evolve microservices architectures, APIs, and distributed systems.

• Solve complex technical issues and debug distributed systems in production.

• Design event-driven solutions and work with messaging and streaming technologies.

• Draft and review technical documentation, RFCs, and design proposals.

• Define quality standards, maintainability, and best practices.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

• Lead code reviews.

• Independently launch extensive features and improvements.

• Participate in technical planning and define the engineering roadmap.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Operations teams.

• Work closely with AI systems within the platform engineering ecosystem.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English at a B2 level or higher.

• Over 6 years of experience in software design and development.

• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and .NET.

• Experience with .NET Framework 4.7+ and .NET Core 6 or later.

• Proven experience in designing and building microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.

• Strong expertise in JavaScript and modern frontend ecosystems.

• Knowledge of coding standards, code reviews, version control, CI/CD, testing, and operations.

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and highly available client-server architectures.

• Familiarity with OAuth2, JWT, and OpenID Connect.

• Experience with SQL Server, MongoDB, and Redis.

• Proficient with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent technologies.

• Experience with CI/CD and tools like Azure DevOps, Bitbucket Pipelines, or GitHub Actions.

• Experience deploying .NET applications on Windows (IIS and CI/CD pipelines) and Linux (Nginx, Kestrel, and containers).

• Knowledge of observability tools: Elastic Stack, Prometheus, or Grafana.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Ability to technically lead, mentor, and communicate complex ideas.

• A plus: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DDD, Event Sourcing, streaming, Erlang, Elixir, Rust, open-source contributions, Azure/AWS certifications, and advanced Portuguese.
